Evangelist John Holme was awesome last night! No God was awesome through Evang. Holme last night! Do you have a long-standing prayer request? Is there an area of your life you have been believing God for a breakthrough? Have you desired God to move mightily in your life? Then you need to "find your Kenny"!
Now before you go bananas on me let me explain. Evang. Holme shared with us how God touched his life in 1981 or thereabouts. Having grown up a rebellious young man, a whoremonger and a winebiber, he had ended up in his early 20s living on the streets. And he met a lot of Christians who told him to be "born again" and he simply mocked them! Until one day he was so tired of his wretched life and he asked one of those Christians to give him room and board and surprise, surprise she did! To cut a long story short, one year and half later, John asked Jesus into his life.

Fast forward 26 years later, to 2007. Evang. John who had been told by the Lord in 1985 what he would be given a powerful evangelistic ministry was frustrated. For more than 20 years he had tried so many ways to launch this ministry with no success. And one day, while sailing on his boat around Great Britain, he met a heroin junkie begging for money on the streets of Aberdeen, Scotland. His name was Kenny. John felt the Lord asking him to take the huge risk of inviting this heroin addict unto his boat, sail at sea with him (just the two of them) and take his time to share the gospel with him. And he obeyed. Cut long story short - a couple of days after Kenny supposedly "gave his life to Christ" but immediately had a relapse into heroin use and so John sent him back to Aberdeen. A day later, John travelled to Aberdeen only to find Kenny back on the streets but. Kenny acknowledged that Jesus had saved him - even though he was still a junkie! And his testimony was this - for the first time in all his life of begging, some woman had given him flyer inviting him to a program by a church! First time ever in his life! Yes that woman's invitation was how Kenny knew Jesus had saved him! Six years on, Kenny is now completely clean of heroin and serves Jesus as part of Rev. David Wilkerson's Teen Challenge Ministry in the UK!
But how does all of this connect to receiving answers to our long-standing prayers? Well Kenny's life was not the only one transformed as a result of John obeying God. John's life was also transformed. For the church Kenny was invited to was none other than the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), a ministry that started in Nigeria but is today one of the largest pentecostal denomination in the world! This church, learning of the role Evang. John played in bringing Kenny to salvation, invited him to minister in their church and from thence John was introduced to a global ministry that has brought to fulfillment the word God gave him in 1984!
Beloved, someone once said "more than 80% of the prayer requests we have will go away if we only walked in obedience". Evang. John said yesterday "our own personal revival comes when we walk in obedience and take risk for Jesus.". Jesus said in Matthew 6:33 "seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and every other thing will be added unto you." As we begin this 7 week of revival, why don't you ask God for your own Kenny - that person or persons whom, in obedience to God, you will take a risk on for Jesus - and watch God turn around your own life!
